Elizabeth K. Hale, MD

Dr. Elizabeth Hale, a board certified dermatologist, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the New York University Langone Medical Center. She specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and laser surgery and teaches advanced dermatologic surgery to the NYU dermatology residents. After graduating cum laude from Cornell University, Dr. Hale received her medical degree from NYU where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. She was also the recipient of the American Medical Women’s Association Citation and the Marion Sulzberger Dermatology Award at NYU. Dr. Hale served as chief resident at The Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology at NYU and was selected to receive the Morris Leider award for Excellence in Dermatology.

Dr. Hale has extensive experience in the field of skin cancer and is a long-time advocate for increasing public awareness of the disease. As a vice president of The Skin Cancer Foundation, she frequently volunteers her time on screening initiatives and public speaking events about the early detection and treatment of skin cancer. She also lectures extensively on the treatment of photoaging with the latest advances in lasers and injectables.



Dr. Hale has received the Surgical Attending of the Year Award from NYU’s dermatology residents and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society teaching award, which is given annually to one NYU voluntary faculty member for his/her dedication to teaching. She co-directed NYU’s Procedural Dermatology Fellowship program and their annual Advances in Dermatology symposium for 8 years. Dr. Hale has published numerous articles and chapters in the field of dermatology and recently co-authored the Handbook of Dermatologic Surgery with her sister, Dr. Julie Karen, and her mentor, Dr. Perry Robins, which is used to train dermatology residents nationwide.

In 2024, Dr. Hale was again named a "New York Super Doctor," as published in the New York Times Magazine, and a Castle Connolly "Top Doctor." In 2023, she was once again selected as one of New York Magazine's "Best Doctors." Each of these honors is based on a survey of other physicians in the NY area as to whom they would choose for their own medical care. As a widely respected dermatologist, Dr. Hale is frequently sought out and extensively quoted by national broadcast, print and online publications. She has lent her skincare expertise to hosts and editors from outlets such as CBS This Morning, Dr. Oz, Good Morning America, Huffington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, TODAY with Kathie Lee and Hoda, and Yahoo! News, as well as several national women's magazines, including VOGUE, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Fitness, Glamour, Allure, SELF, Seventeen and Shape.
